The Cleveland Cavaliers truly have their leader in the form of Donovan Mitchell.

He's not only an on-court star. He also has grown to love the city.

And he defended Cleveland's honor recently.

The WNBA announced it's expanding into Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia. But when Fever star Sophie Cunningham was asked about that, she remarked that she's not sure anyone will be excited to go play in Cleveland or Detroit.

Mitchell clapped back with a post on X, praising Cleveland's summers.

That's really, really cool.

Almost from the moment Mitchell came to Cleveland, people thought he'd eventually leave and join the Knicks.

Instead, he signed an extension with the Cavs and has embraced the city.

One of the ironies here, of course, is that Cunningham is currently in her own Midwest city, so the comment is pretty bizarre.

But Mitchell has Cleveland's back, and that's what matters.
