Giannis Antetokounmpo might have pulled the trigger on Damian Lillard's exit from the Milwaukee Bucks without even knowing. According to sources, Antetokounmpo lobbied and helped the Bucks to land Myles Turner in the first place.
The former Indiana Pacers forward was then signed to a four-year, $107 million extension by the Bucks. However, little did the Greek Freak know that the signing would come at the expense of Lillard.
Just minutes after Turner's contract news, Bobby Marks took to X (formerly Twitter), revealing the Bucks' intentions to waive Lillard and stretch his contract up to five years. Lillard, who had $112-113 million left on his two-year deal with the Bucks, will now be stretched to five years, roughly $22.5 million per season.
Given that both Turner's contract and Lillard's release and contract amendment happened simultaneously, it doesn't take a genius to know that the Bucks were in it all along. However, did Giannis know?
Going by the report from Chris Haynes on X, it says that the two-time MVP "is not pleased" with the team's decision to let go of Lillard.
Now it remains to be seen whether this comes back to haunt Milwaukee in the form of a potential trade request from Giannis Antetokounmpo himself.
