The New York Knicks roster seems set, but reports have indicated that they're still looking to fill out the last spot. Whether that comes via a trade, signing a player to a veteran minimum contract, or a few other ways, the Knicks are in a position where they could look to improve over the next few weeks to months.

Clutch Points recently proposed the idea of them making a trade to accomplish that, naming them a fit for John Konchar of the Memphis Grizzlies.

“The Grizzlies’ front office has reportedly explored moving him already, both to open rotation space for younger wings and to clear future salary commitments. His contract also plays a role in the team’s long-term cap flexibility; freeing up his number could help Memphis manage max extension for a star like Jaren Jackson Jr.

“Konchar’s market is probably limited to teams that value hard-nosed depth and have the cap room or need for contract matching, think of organizations like the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, or even the Denver Nuggets if they seek another defensive-minded bench piece,” they wrote.

Konchar hasn't proven much throughout his NBA career after going undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft out of Purdue Fort Wayne, but there have also been other points throughout his career where he's been somewhat decent.

Konchar's best year came during the 2022-23 season, when he shot a 33.9% point range and averaged 5.1 points per game. He appeared in 72 games that season for the Grizzlies.

The Knicks could do much better, but it remains uncertain how they’ll do that.
