Bench depth has remained a key focus for the New York Knicks' front office as the 2025 NBA offseason continues.

The Knicks' positive acquisitions of 2021 Sixth Man of the Year winner Jordan Clarkson and ex-Philadelphia 76ers forward Guerschon Yabusele have given new head coach Mike Brown a bevy of consistent reserves heading into the 2025-26 season, but New York may not be done.

Clarkson and Yabusele will serve as crucial components of the Knicks' bench rotation, but the franchise could welcome another reliable, underrated option aboard to round out their lineup.

In an effort to solidify their backup unit and provide support for Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns on the offensive end, it's plausible to believe that the Knicks could target a versatile and proven scoring threat from the Los Angeles Clippers, Amir Coffey.

At 28 years old, Coffey authored a magnificent season from an efficiency perspective for the Clippers in 2024-25 off of the bench.

In 72 appearances and 13 starts this past regular season, Coffey averaged a career-best 9.7 points along with 2.2 rebounds while knocking down a blistering 40.9% of his 3.4 three-point attempts in 24.3 minutes of work. The 6-foot-7 forward also connected on 89.1% of his chances from the charity stripe and compiled an overall 61.4% true shooting percentage.

Coffey profiles as an exemplary bench piece for a contending team due to his mix of athleticism and precise jump-shooting prowess. As a prospective addition for the Knicks, he could use these traits to operate as both a serviceable one-on-one scorer and corner three-point specialist.

Coffey's unreal 46.2% corner three-point percentage from 2024-25 would hypothetically make him a prime target for finishing drive-and-kick opportunities orchestrated by Brunson or Towns.

If given the chance to prove that he can contribute to a true title contender in the Eastern Conference, Coffey could establish himself as one of the most dependable role players in the NBA come next season.
