For the past couple of seasons, the New York Knicks have struggled to maintain a quality bench.
This offseason, they went out and signed Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson, and are still looking to make one final move.
One player that is mentioned in an article by Fansided's Dan Favale could be the perfect piece to round out their bench and serve as Jalen Brunson’s backup.
“If we operate under the assumption, then, that the Knicks are bent on adding a guard, their best realistic option is pretty darn clear: Malcolm Brogdon makes more sense than anyone else,” Favale said Tuesday.
“Targeting someone like Amir Coffey or Caleb Houstan would do more to address that void, but the Knicks clearly want another ball-handler. And if that’s the mandate, Brogdon checks more overall boxes than any other remaining (and gettable) free agents.”
Brogdon is a career 15.3 ppg scorer and 38% from beyond the arc.

When Brunson goes to the bench, the Knicks' second unit sometimes becomes stagnant as they lack a secondary playmaker.
Even with their signings this offseason, they would likely rely on Miles McBride, who isn’t much of a creator.
Brogdon’s prime may be behind him, but we have seen what he is capable of.
He averaged a career-high 5.9 assists per game in back-to-back years when he played for the Indiana Pacers.
Last year with the Washington Wizards, he had a down year, averaging just 12.7 points per game, which was his lowest since his rookie year.
Although Brogdon may not be the player he used to be, he can embrace the bench role with the Knicks and be part of a competitive team.
