The New York Knicks have been one of the most interesting teams in basketball over the past few years, and they might only need one more move to become a true title favorite.

Last season, the Knicks were among the top teams in the league throughout the regular season. However, New York’s inability to beat the top teams head-to-head was a concern going into the postseason.

That concern didn’t last long as the Knicks made their first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years, beating the defending champion Boston Celtics in the second round. One of the driving forces of that upset was Mitchell Robinson’s impact on the boards.

With Robinson creating a lethal frontcourt duo alongside Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks seemingly had a championship formula. Of course, they couldn’t get past the Indiana Pacers, but it was still a great year for New York.

To make 2026 even better, it might be wise for the Knicks to capitalize on Robinson’s value and get someone who can be more reliable for longer. That’s where Fantasy Sports on SI’s Ryan Shea proposes a blockbuster deal with the Utah Jazz.

Knicks receive: Walker Kessler, Kevin Love, Svi Mykhailiuk

Jazz receive: Mitchell Robinson, Pacome Dadiet, 2026 first-round pick (NY), 2026 second-round pick (ATL)

Hawks receive: Tyler Kolek

Although Utah might be able to get more value out of Kessler later on, simply adding a first-round pick and a veteran big man could be a perfect move for the Jazz. Meanwhile, the Knicks would still have an inside presence like Robinson brings and even get to add some other potential contributors.

New York probably wouldn’t be able to get this deal done, but if something like this comes to the table, the Knicks would be wise to accept.
