The upcoming Basketball Hall of Fame induction will have many familiar faces for Knicks fans, including two of the franchise’s most notable icons.
Per SNY’s Ian Begley, Carmelo Anthony — who is being inducted as a Hall of Famer — chose Dwyane Wade and Allen Iverson as presenters for his induction. Additionally, Dwight Howard chose Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing, who spent the majority of his historic career with the New York Knicks.
Anthony spent seven seasons with the Knicks from 2010-2017. In that span, he made six All-Star games, and averaged 24.7 points per game. In the 2012-13 season, Anthony won the scoring title after averaging 28.7 points per game. Anthony’s 10,186 points ranks seventh all-time for the Knicks.
The ten-time All-Star chose Dwyane Wade, a fellow rival of the Miami Heat and teammate during the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and Allen Iverson, who he spent parts of three seasons with as members of the Denver Nuggets from 2006-2009 as his presenters for his induction.
Ewing will be amongst Dwight Howard’s presenters at the induction. Ewing is arguably the Knicks’ most decorated player, being the team’s all-time leader in points, games, minutes, 2-point field goals, free throws, rebounds, steals, and blocks. The first overall pick of the 1985 NBA Draft spent 15 of his 17 NBA seasons with the Knicks, and was the leader of a Knicks group that made the NBA Finals in 1994, and 1999. Ewing made 11 All-Star appearances and was named All-NBA seven times.
