The Minnesota Timberwolves have remained one of the busiest teams of the offseason, managing to re-sign two of their top contributors, Naz Reid, along with All-Star forward Julius Randle, to massive contract extensions.

These moves signal the team's intention to remain competitive in the Western Conference, which is loaded with talent.

Despite missing out on Kevin Durant, who was traded to the Houston Rockets as part of a massive seven-team trade, the Timberwolves may be eyeing another generational talent superstar who could help.

Bailey Basset of ClutchPoints has proposed a trade that would pair LeBron James with Anthony Edwards, creating one of the most formidable tandems that would see

Timberwolves receive: LeBron James, Bronny James.

The Lakers receive: Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, and Terrance Shannon Jr.

This hypothetical trade would see the Timberwolves adding James to a strong core that includes Anthony Edwards, Randle, Reid, and Jaden McDaniels.

While James is nearing the end of his legendary career, he has proven that he can still play at a high level or close to it. Last season, he averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists for a player entering his 21st season in the league.

The four-time champion picked up his player option this offseason. James has been vocal about the Lakers needing to be aggressive in free agency.

If the Lakers don't have the necessary roster to help James win another championship before he closes his career, a move to the Timberwolves can be ideal for James in the final chapter of his career.

The Lakers would get additional size up front, adding Gobert along with much-needed shooting with Donte DiVincenzo.

The Timberwolves have been knocking on the door of the NBA Finals for two consecutive years, falling to the Dallas Mavericks in 2024 and to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2025. Adding James could be the final piece to push them over the top.
