NBA writer predicts Kevin Durant could join TImberwolves in massive blockbuster trade image

The talk of the offseason when it comes to the Minnesota Timberwolves has undoubtedly been centered on their pursuit of Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant.

The Timberwolves were reportedly one of the teams interested in acquiring the two-time NBA Champion, pairing him with ascending superstar Anthony Edwards.

While appearing on the Zach Lowe Show, Michael Pina of the Ringer proposed trade scenarios that would send Durant to Minnesota for Rudy Gobert, Donte DiVincenzo, and Rob Dillingham.

Lowe also chimed in on the Timberwolves' complex cap situation heading into the offseason. The team has three free agents- Naz Reid, Julius Randle, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, all of whom will be seeking significant deals in the summer.

"The Minnesota situation is very complex because there are aprons involved for them. They have these three outgoing free agents in Randle, Naz Reid, and Alexander-Walker," Lowe explained during a recent podcast appearance.

The Timberwolves have some significant decisions to make in the coming weeks, with all of those stars hitting the market, putting the team under pressure to continue fielding a contender around Edwards.

If they are able to acquire a star of the caliber of Durant to pair alongside Edwards, it would be a step forward. He is an elite shot-creator who would take a massive offensive load off Wolf's young superstar. Even at the age of 36, Durant remains one of the best scorers in the NBA. Last season, he averaged 26.2 points on 52.7% from the field.

The world will be watching closely to see where Durant goes this offseason.
