The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently down 3-1 in their Western Conference Finals matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Barring a historic comeback, their season is likely nearing its end, with the Thunder looking to close out the series.

With Julius Randle, who is set to hit free agency and likely leave in the offseason, one ESPN NBA analyst believes that the Timberwolves could make a bold trade to acquire another superstar that would get over the hump.

During an appearance on the Road Tripping podcast, Kendrick Perkins suggested that the Minnesota Timberwolves could make a trade that would pair Kevin Durant with Anthony Edwards.

"I believe so… I think Ant needs KD, and I think KD needs Ant," Perkins said.

Several reports have circulated that the Suns may put the 15th All-Star on the trade block this summer.  With speculation on where Durant may end up this offseason,  teaming him up with another ascending superstar in Anthony Edwards might be the best-case scenario for Durant at this point in his career.

Durant is coming off a superb season, one where he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists on 52.7% shooting from the field. Despite being in his mid-30s, he is still one of the best scorers in the league.

Edward played with Durant during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Both players have spoken highly of each other over the years, especially after meeting in the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.

If the Timberwolves can put together a trade for Durant, a pairing of Edward remains with one of the league's top scorers in  Durant could be nightmare fuel for the rest of the NBA.
