The Milwaukee Bucks have accomplished their lone offseason goal thus far, but there is still plenty of time for that to change.
After losing in the first round for the third straight season, it was clear that the Bucks needed to make some changes to try and get back into the top tier of the Eastern Conference. However, their limited flexibility led to some unconventional moves to begin free agency.
With the team agreeing to a four-year, $107 million deal with Myles Turner, Milwaukee needed to make room for him by waiving and stretching Damian Lillard. While it was controversial, the ultimate sentiment is that if Giannis Antetokounmpo is happy, then that’s all that matters.
Of course, the Bucks roster still looks to be far away from title contention, which could lead to Antetokounmpo wanting out sooner rather than later. If that happens, Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley has the ideal landing spot for him.
The San Antonio Spurs have come up in trade rumors throughout the offseason, including the Kevin Durant sweepstakes. However, they haven’t made any big moves and are perhaps waiting on Antetokounmpo’s verdict.
Considering San Antonio’s roster situation and its load of assets, there would be no issues trading for Antetokounmpo while still maintaining a championship-caliber roster. Most importantly, this deal would clear the way for Antetokounmpo to team up with Victor Wembanyama.
While an Antetokounmpo and Wembanyama frontcourt is almost impossible to imagine on the floor, if the Spurs have any shot at making that duo a reality, they need to seize the opportunity.
