The Milwaukee Bucks are in for quite a humbling offseason. With free agency kicking off on Monday, the Bucks will target key additions at a low cost in order to build a contender next season.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker has come up in recent rumors. The Bucks are certainly in the market for guard depth with Damian Lillard expected to be on the shelf with an achilles injury for most, if not all of next season. The Athletic’s Jon Krawcynski reported that the Bucks are a team to monitor for Alexander-Walker’s services.
“The Wolves do have a few young guards and wings, including Terrence Shannon Jr., Jaylen Clark and Rob Dillingham, who the team believes are ready to step in and take Alexander-Walker’s minutes should he move on,” Krawcynski said. “The Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat are among a number of teams to watch in the hunt for Alexander-Walker.
Alexander- Walker averaged 9.4 points and 2.7 assists off the bench for the Minnesota Timberwolves this past season. In three seasons with the team, he averaged 8.4 points per game and shot 38 percent from three. He has also spent time with the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Utah Jazz. His dynamic two-way play has made him an enticing player on the open market.
With Lillard out, and Giannis Antetokounmpo likely staying in Milwaukee despite trade rumors, Alexander-Walker could be a solid pickup for the team as they try to salvage next season with an aging, Lillard-less roster.
