The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers shocked the world back in February with their blockbuster that sent Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic to the Lakers and sent Anthony Davis to Dallas.
However, within the Lakers transitioning from one star on their team to another, the other star isn't too happy with how the process is going.
That other star being one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Lakers forward LeBron James, according to Ramona Shelburne and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
"James understood about the Lakers taking advantage of an opportunity to pivot to the younger superstar, but from James' perspective, nuance was sometimes lost during the transition," wrote the two ESPN writers.
And as it was made known around when the trade happened, James was not given any sort of "significant notice" by Los Angeles before the package deal was constructed to bring the European star Doncic to the City of Angels.
Windhorst and Shelburne would then write that "James evidently forgave the decision because of the respect he had for Luka Doncic and the understanding of the franchise's reasoning for making the trade and keeping it under wraps for as long as possible."
However, it was also reported that specific moves made by the Lakers in wake of acquiring Doncic rubbed "The King" the wrong way, such as the team refusing to add a center to play with James and Anthony Davis when the latter was still in LA, and also the team informing Doncic first that the Buss family were selling a controlling stake in the team before they informed James.
James has announced on social media that he intends to play in the 2025-26 season, where he would become the first NBA player in the history of the league to play 23 league seasons.
