The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James have had their better days together.
With the arrival of superstar Luka Dončić came the expected excitement, but months later, the unexpected drama has kicked in.
So much so that Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale has LeBron as one of the next NBA stars to request a trade.
“The Lakers appear to be reorienting themselves around the 26-year-old Luka Dončić and may have made it clear they don't intend to pay LeBron beyond the 2025-26 season. Do we really expect LeBron to sit through this quietly?” Favale said Thursday. “This could be a matter of LeBron exerting his leverage as the owner of a no-trade clause. It could entail his making a request and the Lakers attempting to do right by their star.”
James is one of the few players to receive a no-trade clause in history, and rightfully so.
However, this is the first time in his 23-year career that he has not been prioritized by the team he is on.

Of course, if he does decide to request a trade, it is assumed that he will be able to pick his preferred destination; otherwise, he will exercise his no-trade clause.
James has been running the league ever since he got selected to his first All-Star team in his sophomore year.
Over two decades later, though, things have changed, and his once-favorite young player is now hijacking his team and making it his own.
Although it seems James has set up his personal life in Los Angeles for when he retires, he could request a trade if he feels like they aren’t treating him right.
