The Detroit Pistons were one of the NBA's biggest surprises in 2024-25. After five consecutive seasons where they won 23 games or less -- including a franchise low 14 wins last season -- they went 44-38 and returned to the postseason.
While they were unable to make it past the first round for the first time since 2007-08, the Pistons appear to be trending in the right direction. Detroit is projected to be one of two teams with over $20 million in cap space this summer.
They reportedly are interested in poaching a long-time starter from one of the teams playing in this year's NBA Finals. Jake Fischer recently reported that the Pistons could target Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner.

Turner has been a key member of the Pacers for a decade after the franchise selected him 11th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft. While his name has constantly come up in trade rumors, he has remained with Indiana for his entire career and is in the midst of his first NBA Finals appearance.
He will enter unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career this summer. While Detroit may have interest in bringing him in, it is unclear if Turner will be interested in leaving the Pacers.
Indiana is reportedly willing to enter the luxury tax for the first time in two decades to keep their core together. Turner averaged 15.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.8 steals and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 48.1% from the field, 39.6% from three-point range and 77.3% from the free-throw line.
