The Dallas Mavericks will soon have Cooper Flagg, but he might not be the only big addition this offseason.

Over the past few months, nothing has been quiet in Dallas. After Nico Harrison’s decision to send Luka Doncic to Los Angeles, everything has been ramped up in Texas.

Despite the disdain of the Mavericks’ fanbase, Dallas could still enter next season as one of the top teams in the Western Conference. While building championship hopes around Anthony Davis and an already-injured Kyrie Irving is suspect, there is still reason for optimism.

While Flagg will soon be taken with the No. 1 overall pick in Dallas, the Mavericks could still make a big trade to add a star. With Flagg’s addition into the frontcourt, Dallas can afford to move off some of its other options inside.

In a recent trade proposal from Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley, the Mavericks would trade Dereck Lively II and P.J. Washington to the Lakers for Austin Reaves and Shake Milton.

After many believed that the Mavericks made a mistake not getting Reaves in the Doncic trade in February, they could fix their backcourt problem and silence those critics with this one move. Considering Irving’s injury and the Mavericks' other frontcourt depth, led by Daniel Gafford, Dallas would get some much-needed guard depth with Milton as well.

Sure, Dallas isn’t going to get the benefit of the doubt until the team succeeds on the court, but if you squint just enough, a deal like this could help Harrison’s master plan come together.
