With Kyrie Irving expected to miss most of the 2025-26 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee, the Dallas Mavericks may be forced to explore other options at point guard.

The nine-time All-Star missed most of the 2024-25 season, leaving the team shorthanded in the backcourt. CBS Sports Writer Robby Kalland recently pitched a potential solution for the Mavs' point guard issue: Tyus Jones.

"It wasn't a great year for Jones in Phoenix, but that was also a situation I'm not sure anyone could truly thrive in," Kalland wrote."He averaged 10.2 points and 5.3 assists per game on a Suns team with horrific vibes and might be happy to take a change of scenery. Dallas would allow him to start again and prove himself in a position better suited to his success.

Jones has proven to be a reliable floor general throughout his ten-year career since entering the league. He has spent time with the Grizzlies, Wizards, and most recently, the Suns, though

Jones will enter the 2025 offseason as a free agent after playing one season in Phoenix. Last season, the Suns struggled, finishing with a 36-46 record and missing the postseason.

Meanwhile, the Mavs navigated a chaotic 2024-25 season, highlighted by a massive midseason trade sending Luka Doncic to Los Angeles. They managed to win the No.1 overall pick, positioning themselves to take Cooper Flagg,

Though he isn't the flashiest name, Jones can prove to be a radar signing for the Dallas Mavericks, a team that is looking to reset and stabilize itself at point guard.
