The Boston Celtics have been in many trade rumors to begin this offseason, and one player has dominated those headlines.

Since losing to the New York Knicks in the second round, the Celtics have been in the offseason spotlight. While it seems strange that a team would break up its championship core only a year removed from hoisting the Larry O’Brien, the Celtics’ cap situation could force that to happen.

If Boston is going to move some money around to get under the second apron, Jrue Holiday seems to be the likeliest guy to move. While others on the team make more money and have more trade value, Holiday is the happy middle of that equation, giving Boston some financial flexibility while still getting a decent return.

However, Marcus Morris isn’t exactly sold on Boston’s possible plan to find a new home for Holiday. In a recent Yahoo Sports appearance, Morris made clear his stance on what Boston should do with Holiday.

"I'm a big fan of Jrue and the things that he can do," Morris said. "So, I would personally keep him unless I'm getting somebody that can be a glue, a do-it-all guy at an extremely high level like him."

While that is almost certainly how Boston would operate in an ideal situation, it might not have that luxury. The Celtics desperately need to find ways to continue contending with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown for the foreseeable future.

To make that happen, they might need to somewhat punt on next season and deal Holiday to make the future easier to deal with. Building a title team is one of the most difficult things in the league, and finding ways to stay at that level is just as hard.
