Who won the NASCAR race today? Full results, standings from Toyota Save Mart 350 in Sonoma image

Another week, another road course.

Turns prove treacherous across the rolling terrain at Sonoma Raceway, the site of this week's Cup Series contest, the Toyota Save Mart 350.

Road mavens continue to make their presence felt across the surface, which can invoke both delight and despair upon those who trot onto its gleaming surfaces.

Shane van Gisbergen, Chase Elliott, Tyler Reddick and AJ Allmendinger rank among the Cup Series' most gifted road slicksters. Did any of them climb to the top of the mountain in wine country?

Here's what you need to know about the results from Sunday's Cup Series matchup, the Toyota Save Mart 350.

Who won the NASCAR race today?

Shane van Gisbergen captured the crown at Sonoma on Sunday, outpacing Joe Gibbs Racing standouts Chase Briscoe and Christopher Bell to secure his third win of the Cup Series season.

van Gisbergen has struggled mightily on ovals during his maiden campaign as a full-time Cup Series driver. But on the road, he's as good as they come—all three of his victories (Mexico City, Chicago, Sonoma) have come on modified road courses. While it's hard to see him doing enough damage on ovals to mount a challenge for the Cup Series title at large, van Gisbergen's three wins are the joint-best mark in the field. With another road course on the calendar at Watkins Glen in a few weeks, that figure could swell.
