For the third time in as many years, the Cup Series rolled through the streets of Chicago—literally.
The third iteration of the Grant Park 165 proved a captivating watch, filled with thrills, spills and plenty of burnt rubber. Given the event's famous venue—the Windy City's financial district—such a result wasn't all that surprising.
Shane van Gisbergen and Alex Bowman notched wins atop the city's scorched thoroughfares in 2023 and 2024, respectively. Who joined them on Sunday evening? Here's what you need to know.
Who won the NASCAR race today?
Shane van Gisbergen continued to show that he is a force to be reckoned with on street courses. After Michael McDowell led more than 30 laps, a maintenance issue ended his day early. van Gisbergen took the opportunity and ran with it, edging out Ty Gibbs in second by 0.97 seconds. van Gisbergen won the pole on Saturday and has now won two races on the Cup Series circuit this year. He also won the 2025 Viva Mexico 250 last month.
