Blue Jays win sixth straight in MUST SEE fashion on Friday night image

While folks in Canada weren’t celebrating the Fourth of July, fans were treated to some late-game heroics on Friday. The Toronto Blue Jays won their sixth straight game and moved two games ahead of the New York Yankees with a 4-3 win in 10 innings over the Los Angeles Angels.

How they won the game is the real story. You have to see it to believe it:

After Toronto held the Angels scoreless in the top of the 10th inning, Sam Bachman entered the game for Los Angeles and didn’t retire a batter. Myles Straw started the inning on second base. Nathan Lukes drew a walk, putting runners on first and second with nobody out.

Ernie Clement laid down a perfectly placed bunt between the pitcher’s mound and third base, forcing Bachman to field it and rush the throw. Clement hustled down the line, and Bachman’s throw sailed high, allowing Straw to come around and score the winning run.

The Blue Jays won despite managing only five hits on the night. Outside of the walk-off run, all of Toronto’s offense came in the sixth inning, with RBIs from Andrés Giménez, Bo Bichette, and Addison Barger.

Chad Green earned the win for Toronto. He pitched one inning, struck out a batter, and kept the Angels scoreless in the 10th. Eric Lauer was strong to start, going six innings and allowing just three hits and two runs.

The two teams are back at it Saturday afternoon, with Jack Kochanowicz starting for the Angels and Max Scherzer on the mound for Toronto.
