The Blue Jays' biggest out-of-organization offseason signing hasn't had a fun start in Toronto.
The latest bummer news came on Friday. Anthony Santander has been placed on the 10-day Injured List with left shoulder inflammation.
Santander signed with the Blue Jays in the offseason on a five-year deal worth $92.5 million.
But so far, he has batted just .179 and has a negative-0.8 WAR.
The 30-year old slugged 44 home runs in 2024 for the Orioles, earning his first All-Star nod.
Santander did have six homers this season for Toronto, but that was in 184 at bats, a rate well behind his 2024 total.

For each of his last six seasons in Baltimore, Santander had an OPS of .720 or better, with two seasons above .800.
This season so far, Santander's OPS was sitting at .577.
The Blue Jays will hope Santander getting healthy gives the switch hitter a chance to find his groove again.
Toronto called up Alan Roden to take Santander's spot on the MLB roster. Roden has 73 at bats in the majors this season at a .178 clip.
