The Texas Rangers let an experienced pitcher walk this weekend so he could take a long trip to continue his baseball career.

They released Gerson Garabito.

The Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant reported that Garabito is heading to South Korea to pitch in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Garabito had a cool story as quite the journeyman.

He joined the Royals organization as a teenager out of the Dominican Republic.

Garabito moved on to the Giants in 2021. But he didn't play in affiliated ball in 2022 or 23, with his only recorded professional stats in that time coming in the Venezuelan, Nicaraguan and Dominican winter leagues.

He joined the Rangers organization in 2024 and got to make his MLB debut. He had a 4.78 ERA in 18 MLB appearances.

Garabito struggled in three outings in the bigs this year with a 9.00 ERA.

Now, he's heading halfway around the baseball world to play in Korea.

Some veterans go there, build their value and come back.

Others go there and stay for years, enjoying their roles and wrapping up their careers far from home.

Whatever Garabito does, he's had quite the baseball journey.
