The Texas Rangers have struggled a bit in 2025. Their pitching staff has remained effective, but their offense has fallen flat.
They are 36-39, but are also very close in the American League Wild Card race. To stay afloat, they may need to acquire a bat at the trade deadline.
The deadline is just over six weeks away, so there is time for Texas to find a solution to its offensive woes.
Jim Bowden of The Athletic proposed the idea of Texas acquiring Marcell Ozuna from the Atlanta Braves.
"The Rangers’ offense has been inconsistent this season, and it looks like they need an impact middle-of-the order bat. Ozuna would be a potential solution if the Braves decide to sell at the trade deadline," Bowden writes.

Ozuna is hitting .253/.381/.418 with 11 home runs, 39 RBI and a .799 OPS with the Braves. Atlanta has struggled, so it might make sense for them to trade Ozuna, who is on an expiring contract.
Texas could certainly use his presence in the middle of their lineup. Last year, he hit .302 with 39 home runs and drove in 104 runs during the regular season, so there is certainly value there.
Ozuna is a former Gold Glove winner, but is almost strictly a designated hitter these days. He's also a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger.
Because the American League is weaker this year, the Rangers still have a shot to make the postseason, even at three games below .500. But Ozuna could certainly transform the offense and give them a much better chance to grab a Wild Card spot.
It will certainly be interesting to see where Texas stands on July 31.
