The Texas Rangers have begun to struggle a bit recently. They once led the American League West but have lost the top spot to the Seattle Mariners and are now in fourth place in the division.
Their bullpen has performed well, but they don't have a surefire closer at the back end. That is something they could look to add at the trade deadline
David Robertson, Kirby Yates and Jose Leclerc are all gone, and it would make sense for them to add a back-end arm when they get the chance.
Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report recently made some predictions for where certain players will go at the trade deadline. He proposed the idea of Texas trading for St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley.
"The Texas Rangers make as much sense as anyone. They allowed Kirby Yates and José Leclerc to walk in free agency last winter, while David Robertson remains a free agent," Kelly wrote.

"2025 is as good of an opportunity as this group is going to get to win a second World Series together. Acquiring Helsley would help to improve their odds."
Helsley saved 49 games last year, setting a Cardinals franchise record. That was enough for him to win National League Reliever of the Year honors. He also posted a 2.04 ERA last year.
He hasn't had many chances this year with the Cardinals under the .500 mark. But he could have a decent shot to repeat that success if he goes to a contending team.
The Rangers have a strong farm system, which could interest St. Louis. Meanwhile, the Rangers would be picking up arguably the best closer in Major League Baseball.
Having him at the back end of their bullpen would give them a much better chance to compete for a World Series title.
We'll see where things stand with both clubs at the deadline.
