It never hurts to add some catching help.
That's especially true when the new catcher used to be a top prospect for a division rival.
Diego Cartaya, who rose as high as a top-25 prospect in all of baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers, posted on social media indicating he's now with the San Francisco Giants' organization.

Cartaya is still just 23 years old.
He most recently had suited up for the St. Paul Saints, the Triple-A club of the Minnesota Twins. There, Cartaya batted just .085 in 20 games.

Back in the day, Cartaya displayed some power and catching ability in the lower minors.
But he hasn't had much of that as he has climbed the ladder.
The Giants clearly want to see his talent up close for themselves.
Cartaya would be a bad beat for the Dodgers if he ended up becoming a solid player for the Giants. Even though that's a longshot, it's an intriguing outcome that will have members of both fanbases checking in on some Triple-A box scores to see what Cartaya is up to.
