Giants considered winners in blockbuster trade for $313.5 million All-Star image

The San Francisco Giants pulled off an insane blockbuster deal late on Sunday.

In a stunning move, they managed to land three-time All-Star and 2018 World Series champion Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox. They sent pitchers Jordan Hicks and Kyle Harrison back to Boston.

The Giants have been a surprise contender this season, and they are clearly looking to keep their foot on the gas and ride their momentum into October.

Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report listed the winners and losers of the deal, and the Giants were considered the lucky ones.

"This winner kind of goes without saying, right?" Miller wrote.

"The Giants have been desperately searching for a legitimate slugger for the past two decades, last producing a 30-homer season via Barry Bonds in 2004."

The Giants desperately needed a power bat to put in the middle of their lineup. The players they've signed haven't panned out as such.

But Devers could be a different story. He's hitting .272/.401/.504 with 15 home runs, 58 RBI, a .905 OPS and a 2.3 WAR.

Finally, San Francisco has somebody that they can build around for the next several years. Devers is in year two of his massive contract extension, so they'll have 11 full years of Devers if all goes according to plan.

The Giants can now at least be considered a threat to dethrone the Los Angeles Dodgers. They aren't far back in the National League West, so we could very well see a new winner crowned at the end of the year.

It will be interesting to see how everything plays out.
