Report: Twins set to hire Paul Molitor as manager image

The Minnesota Twins will hire Hall of Famer Paul Molitor as their manager, according to Patrick Reusse of 1500 ESPN, a radio station in the Twin Cities.

Molitor played the final three seasons of his career with the Twins, after spending the first 15 years with the Milwaukee Brewers and then three with the Toronto Blue Jays. He retired with 3,319 hits and a career .306 batting average. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2004.

He would replace Ron Gardenhire, who was fired after 13 seasons as Twins manager. Minnesota went to the postseason six times in Gardenhire's tenure, finishing first in the AL Central each time. But the Twins lost at least 92 games each of the past four seasons.
