CHICAGO — At some point, Daniel Murphy will stop hitting home runs every game.
Probably. Maybe.

It’s probably best not to bet against him right now, though. Murphy hit another homer on Tuesday in Game 3 of the NLCS. At least this time the Mets’ red-hot left-handed hitter waited until the third inning to unleash his solo blast; he homered in the first inning in Games 1 and 2 in New York.
Murphy has now hit home runs in five consecutive playoff games.
That ties a MLB postseason record, set by Carlos Beltran in 2004 with the Astros. In 12 games that October, Beltran hit eight home runs, drove in 14 and produced an incredible .435/.536/1.022 slash line.
Murphy already owned the Mets' franchise record for career playoff home runs with five. He now has six home runs this postseason.
