World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner got off to a horrible start in spring training Tuesday against the Athletics.

Baugarner surrendered a team cycle to Athletics who began the first tinning with a Craig Gentry single followed by a Marcus Semien home run. Ben Zobrist followed with a triple before Billy Butler recorded the first out of the inning. Nate Freiman completed the team cycle with a double to right field.

Baugarner lasted 1 2/3 innings allowing five hits, four runs, while striking out two in his 2015 Cactus League debut.

Last season, the 25-year-old set a record for innings pitched in a postseason with 52 2/3 and although he was dominant, his 2014 workload was a concern heading into this season. Postseason included, Bumgarner pitched an incredible 270 innings on the year. His previous career high, postseason included, was 223 1/3 in 2012.

Despite the early season setback Tuesday, Baugarner will hope for a repeat of a successful 2014 regular season in which he posted an 18-10 record, 2.98 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 219/43 K/BB ratio.
