Braves RHP Dan Winkler suffers nasty injury to right elbow

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Daniel Winkler suffered another apparent setback in his road back from Tommy John surgery.

The right-hander left Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals after he lost control of a pitch that flew well behind Randal Grichuk in the seventh inning. He clutched his right elbow and walked off the mound in pain, dropping to his knees in front of the Braves dugout.  

Winkler, 26, underwent Tommy John surgery in 2014 and spent most of the 2015 season on the disabled list, making his MLB debut late last season. He'd been pitching well in the spring and was expected to be a key component to the Braves' bullpen this season.
