The Houston Astros are well and truly in business, especially after that series against the LA Dodgers, where they showed they can take out any team. The upcoming trade deadline gives them another chance to bolster their roster, and reportedly, the team has eyes on Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins.

General Manager Dana Brown recently spoke about the need for a left-handed bat since the Astros currently have the fewest plate appearances from lefties this season. Mullins, a switch-hitter, fits the bill well.

Climbing Tal’s Hill’s Drew Koch reports it’s now “buzzing” that Houston might pursue Mullins, though the move could require moving Jake Meyers, who’s enjoyed a breakout first half.

If the Astros don't want to part ways with Myers, who's hitting .308, they might take a look at internal options, where they'll find Taylor Trammell, Jon Singleton and injured prospect Jacob Melton.

Yordan Alvarez is injured and has been placed on the 60-day injured list, taking one more left-handed hitter from their daily lineup. Thus, Houston may need to consider trading for Mullins or a lefty as good as all seriousness.
