The New York Yankees and New York Mets might find themselves in a battle.
Both are seeking a reunion with the same free agent relief pitcher.
The Athletic's Will Sammon reports that David Robertson is throwing for teams in hopes of getting a contract.
"Several teams, including the New York Mets and New York Yankees, have at least recently looked into Robertson, league sources said," Sammon writes. "Multiple teams expect to attend one of his throwing sessions within the next week."
Robertson last pitched in the majors in September for the Rangers.
He's 40 years old now.

Last season, Robertson had a 3.00 ERA in 68 games, striking out 99 batters in just 72 innings.
Over the past three seasons, Robertson has a combined 2.82 ERA.
He seems like the perfect option for a contending team needing bullpen help.
Robertson has pitched in MLB for the Yankees, Mets, Rangers, Marlins, Phillies, Cubs, White Sox and Rays.
He'd almost serve like a trade deadline pickup for whatever team signs him. Keep an eye on Robertson's name. He could make a huge difference for one lucky team.
