The New York Mets honored their newest pitcher's request to be known as Dicky Lovelady, rather than his given name Richard.
But they didn't keep him around for long.
The Mets designated Lovelady for assignment on Wednesday after just one appearance in the blue and orange.
The 29-year old lefty got into Tuesday night's game. He retired the first five batters he faced, but then gave up two walks and a double, eventually charged with two runs allowed.
The DFA means Lovelady is removed from the 40-man roster. He's also placed on waivers, so another team could claim him. If Lovelady clears waivers, he'll have the choice between electing free agency or accepting an assignment to Triple-A Syracuse.

After Tuesday's outing Lovelady has now appeared in 111 MLB games. He has a career 5.35 ERA.
He has pitched for the Royals, Rays, Athletics, Cubs, Blue Jays and now Mets.
Lefty arms are always at a premium, so it seems like Lovelady could hang around for a while still.
But at least for now, his Mets tenure will go down as one-and-done, and he'll be seeking out his next step in his journeyman baseball career.
