Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski named to All-Star Game with fewest innings pitched of any selection in MLB history image

Jacob Misiorowski has made five MLB starts for the Milwaukee Brewers.

In those five outings, he has thrown 25.2 total innings.

And now, he's a National League All-Star.

Misiorowski was named as an injury replacement to the Midsummer Classic, and it's a historic selection. No pitcher has ever made the game with so few innings in an MLB career, per ESPN.

It makes sense that players would generally need to have a stronger first half to get in.

But somehow, it feels like Misiorowski deserves it.

He's been practically unhittable at times. His fastball gets into the low-100s. His slider has hit 97.

He just struck out 12 Dodgers in his last start to outduel Clayton Kershaw in a Brewers win.

Through five starts, he has a 2.81 ERA, but watching him pitch is just as much about the experience of watching his long limbs fly all over the place and create pitching magic.

The previous record here was set just last year, when Paul Skenes started the All-Star Game after just 11 MLB starts.

Misiorowski crushed that mark in a way that may never be broken.

But at least on ability, he deserves it. Baseball should have the best players in its showcase game. Misiorowski has already proven he fits that bill.
