Good luck getting Shohei Ohtani to take a day off from rehab on the surgically repaired UCL in his throwing elbow.
Even as rain poured down in New York, Ohtani was in the Citi Field bullpen going through the throwing routine that has him on track to return to the mound for the Dodgers next season.
Full-Count MLB had a video of Ohtani playing some light catch in the bullpen. He's not throwing off the mound or throwing with much intensity, but seeing him throwing at all at this point is a great sign that the rehab is going well.
Ohtani has had a major impact for the Dodgers so far this season, but they'll be in an even better spot next year when they're able to slot him fully healthy into their pitching rotation.
