Before Tuesday night, Christian Moore's MLB potential was just that: potential.
But then he put together a home run combination never before seen in MLB history, and the Angels' No. 8 overall pick in 2024 had proven what he might be able to become.
Moore had to do three things to put himself in the MLB history books as the first to ever accomplish this feat, per OptaStats. The three components:
- Hit a game-tying home run
- Hit a walk-off home run while trailing
- Drive in all of his team's runs
It started in the bottom of the eighth inning with the Angels trailing the Red Sox, 1-0. Moore crushed a ball 108mph off the bat for a solo home run to left field to tie the game up.
In the 10th inning, the Red Sox scored a run in the top half to go up, 2-1.
In the bottom of the 10th, Moore was the second batter to hit. After a strikeout, Moore went 107mph off the bat, a line drive missile to score himself and bonus runner Scott Kingery and walk the game off.

Moore's MLB debut season has been slow. He's batting just .196 very early in his tenure, and he had homered just once before Tuesday.
But he's a special talent, and the Angels look likely to give him a chance to figure things out at the major league level.
A historic night like Tuesday's says that Moore may indeed be finding some solutions already.
