The Houston Astros are putting together another fabulous campaign in the 2025 season, sitting a comfortable seven games ahead of the Seattle Mariners in the AL West standings.
But let's face it: The Astros could use some help in the outfield.
And we're not saying that Cam Smith and Jake Meyers aren't pulling their weight, but a jolt in the Astros outfield as they still rearrange without having Kyle Tucker definitely wouldn't hurt.
And with Astros general manager Dana Brown being very adamant about having a left-handed bat on his trade deadline shopping list, one name sticks out that fits both criteria and would make a lot of sense for the team.
That name would be Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins.
A center fielder possessing power and speed, Mullins would be an easy everyday starter in the "8" spot on the field for Houston and could give a boost to their playoff push.
Mullins is currently batting .214 with 12 home runs and 39 runs batted in for the Orioles, who are currently sit dead last in the AL East standings with a 37-48 record, which could easily label them as a team looking for a midseason rebuild at the trade deadline on July 31.
After debuting for Baltimore in 2018, Mullins enjoyed a breakout season in 2021, being named to the All-Star Game and finishing with a 30-30 season with exactly 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases.
He was awarded a Silver Slugger Award and finished ninth in AL MVP voting.
Are there other options that fit these criteria? Of course. But if the Astros want consistent production both on the field and at the plate, then Mullins just might be their best bet.
