Detroit Tigers’ manager A.J. Hinch provided another update today on outfielder Parker Meadows, saying the 25-year-old slugger is still working his way back to full speed, per The Athletic’s Cody Stavenhagen. Meadows has been on the 10-day injured list with a right quad strain since July 28.
“I don’t know that he will necessarily go out on rehab while we are playing the Astros,” Hinch said. “Series by series I have an idea.”

"I don't know that he will necessarily go out on rehab while we are playing the Astros," Hinch said. "Series by series, I have an idea."
While no official date is set for Meadows’ rehab assignment, a CBS Sports report from last week said he “could begin rehab soon.”
Meadows’ injury-riddled 2025 season
The injury bug has not been kind to Meadows recently. He didn’t make his 2025 season debut until June 2 because of a stint on the 60-day injured list (right upper arm inflammation). That injury already required him to complete a rehab assignment in late May.
When Meadows finally did return to the majors, he didn’t last there long. After just 38 games—in which he batted an underwhelming .200/.270/.296—he was placed back on the 10-day IL because of his quad.
Detroit will need Meadows back as soon as possible. While the Tigers sprinted out to a 59-38 record before the All-Star Break, they’ve gone just 14-15 since then. Still, they hold a comfortable 8.5-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians for the AL Central lead, but Detroit needs to be at its best to make a postseason run.
Meadows, who debuted for the Tigers in 2023, played in seven playoff games last year and helped Detroit make the ALDS with a .269/.345/.462 slash line and seven hits (two doubles and one homer).
Meadows is a career .231 batter with 14 home runs and 50 RBI over 157 games.
