The Detroit Tigers announced a trade on Saturday afternoon, sending outfielder Brewer Hicklen to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for cash considerations, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today

Hicklen was drafted in the 7th round by the Kansas City Royals in the 2017 MLB Draft. Since then, he has bounced around a bit. He made his Major League debut in 2022 with the Royals, appearing in just six games. He wouldn’t make it back to the majors until 2024 with the Milwaukee Brewers, appearing in just three games.

This season with the Tigers, he appeared in just one major league game, going 2 for 3 with a walk.

Hicklen has showcased a power stroke in the minor leagues throughout his career. In 2022, he slugged 28 home runs in Triple-A, and hit 22 last year.

Now, Hicklen will join the Phillies in their Triple-A Lehigh Valley affiliate. He’ll serve as a potential depth option for a Phillies team that is looking to make another deep postseason run this season.
