What’s next for the Southsiders? After winning their second series of the month, the White Sox are looking to finish June strong. Chicago is 25–53 on the season, which is six games behind the Athletics for the worst record in the American League.

But Will Venable was brought in to change the losing culture, so don’t expect this squad to lay down and die. The White Sox can still play plenty of strong baseball, and that effort begins Monday night.

The White Sox are back home at Guaranteed Rate Field as they host the Arizona Diamondbacks. This is the first of a three-game series. After the series, Chicago will take Thursday off before welcoming another National League West squad to town. The San Francisco Giants, with their shiny new acquisition Rafael Devers, will be in town over the weekend.

It appears it will be a double dose of Shane Smith this week. He is scheduled to start on Monday and is also expected to wrap up the homestand on Sunday. Sean Burke is listed as the starter for Tuesday, but no starting pitcher has been named yet for the Wednesday afternoon game.

Of their 23 wins this season, 16 have come at home. The White Sox have not been a terrible home team, holding a 16–21 record. Those 16 home wins are tied with Baltimore and the Los Angeles Angels in the American League and ahead of the Athletics.

The White Sox will begin the homestand with the worst batting average in all of MLB. Chicago is hitting .221 on the season. The team also ranks third worst in total runs scored, with just 272.

It will be a hot week. The White Sox hope the bats heat up like the temperature and give the home crowd a few things to be excited about as the dog days of summer begin to arrive.
