The Board of Control for Cricket in India suspended the Indian Premier League 2025 season for a week amid rising cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

On Thursday, May 8 the IPL match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals had to be halted midway at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala, following rising security concerns. The match was eventually called off.

An emergency IPL governing council meeting was called following the cancellation of the game, and the league, along with BCCI, finally decided to suspend the competition for a week on Friday, May 9.

As uncertainty looms over the future of the 18th season of the IPL amid rising cross-border tension, here are all the live updates regarding IPL 2025.

May 11: The Times of India reports that Shubman Gill and Gujarat Titans (GT) have begun training at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

May 11: Indian Express reports that BCCI is planning to resume the IPL season as soon as possible and have asked all franchises to reassemble their squads by Tuesday, except for Punjab Kings.

May 10: The Times of India report suggests IPL 2025 could start as early as next Thursday or Friday.

May 10: IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal tells the Indian Express that BCCI will begin consultation with all involved parties including the broadcasters and most importantly, the Indian government.

 “Ceasefire has just been announced. We now explore the possibility of resuming and concluding the IPL. We need to work out the venue dates and everything. Most importantly, we will have to consult with the government."

May 10: News24 journalist reports IPL 2025 is set to resume next week, with BCCI likely to hold a phone call and meeting with stakeholders today.

May 10: Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirms ceasfire between the two countries.

May 10: U.S. President Donald Trump claims on Truth Social that India and Pakistan have reached a full ceasefire agreement, signaling a potential optimism for IPL 2025 to resume sooner rather than later. However, an official confirmation is yet to be made.

May 10: The Times of India reports BCCI could consider hosting the remaining IPL 2025 matches in Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, but ESPNCricinfo claims that the board have chosen only the three southern Indian states and dropped Kolkata from their list.

May 10: Sky Sports has reported that the England and Wales Cricket Board is ready to help BCCI with hosting the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. It now remains to be seen if the Indian board will consider taking the tournament out of the country.

May 9: PBKS and DC players were safely evacuated from Dharamshala to the national capital Delhi in a special train arranged by the BCCI.

May 9: IPL suspended with immediate effect for a week. The BCCI formally announced the suspension of the 2025 season for a week as the board stood in solidarity with the Indian government and its armed forces during an emergency situation.

May 8: The IPL governing council meet for an emergency meeting to decide on the future of the 2025 season.
