Ronnie Hill knows that he is getting the opportunity of a lifetime. Now, he has to show why the Iowa Hawkeyes offered and he accepted.
Hill, a member of the Class of 2026, committed to the Hawkeyes recently. The 6-foot-1, 183-pounder is from Sterling Heights, Michigan.
Mid-America Conference schools such as Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois were targeting Hill, but after a visit over the weekend, it was Iowa that got the athlete.
Tom Lemming, one of the top scouts across the United States, said of Hill: "Good length for a free safety. Closes quickly and known for his hard-hitting style of play."
Lemming has Hill a three-star prospect in his class.
The Hawkeyes are hoping they get the same kind of production from Hill as another former Michigan native who didn't have a lot of interest from bigger schools coming out of high school in Desmond King. All King did was win the Jim Thorpe Award in 2015 and play in the NFL for a number of seasons.
Other schools who offered Hill before he committed to Iowa include Austin Peay, Kent State and Miami (Ohio).
