Top performers from final week of Maine high school baseball championships image

Maine's 2024-25 high school sports season closed last week with MPA state baseball semifinals (which are also regional finals) and finals. Biddeford, Greely, Monmouth Academy, and St. Dominic finished on top as champions in Classes A-D, respectively.

Here's a quick look at the top individual performers from last week's 12 total regional and state championship games.

Riley Daigle, St. Dominic: Daigle scored three runs, going 2-4 with a triple and an RBI as the Saint beat Bangor Christian 9-6 for a Class D state crown.

Jacob Fish, Thornton Academy: Fish was a star in the Class A semifinals despite the Trojans' 2-1 loss to Biddeford. He went 3-3 with a double and scored Thornton Academy's only run.

Gavin Haggett, Biddeford: Haggett went 5-6 with two walks, a triple, and four RBI to help power Biddeford to a Class A championship. He also pitched six innings in a 2-1 semifinals victory over Thornton Academy, holding Thornton Academy to five hits and one run with 10 strikeouts.

Jake Harmon, Monmouth Academy: Harmon got three hits and also recorded both an outfield assist and a highlight catch as Monmouth Academy beat Washington Academy 9-1 in the Class C state finals.

Kyle LePage, Monmouth Academy: LePage held Washington Academy to one run in a compete game victory good for a Class C state title.

Kenny Mecham, Richmond: Mecham got on base four times in a 4-2 Class D semifinals loss to St. Dominic. He went 3-4 with a walk.

Trevor Shimabukuro, Washington Academy: Shimabukuro tossed a complete game shutout with 11 K's in a 1-0 Class C semifinals win against Dexter.

Dom Smith, Biddeford: In two wins for a Class A state title, Smith hit 6-7 with two RBI and a run scored. He also got a save for one scoreless inning in a one-run semifinals victory over Thornton Academy.

Kyle Soule, Greely: Soule was the top hitter in the final two rounds for the Class B state champion, going 5-8 with a triple and four RBI.

Walker Wolfe, Mount Abram: Wolfe was impeccable with the bat in the Class C semifinals despite a 6-4 loss to Monmouth Academy, going 3-3 with a double and two RBI.
