Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Starting pitcher rankings, strategy for April 19 image

Our daily fantasy baseball picks continue with starting pitcher rankings and advice for Tuesday's MLB slate.

Good news: You won't have to pay up to get ace stats Tuesday. Bad news: A lot of daily fantasy baseball owners are going to pick Francisco Liriano at San Diego, so you may have to go another route in tournament play. I hate that Jaime Garcia and Vincent Velasquez have been robbed of their value after throwing shutouts, but they could still pay off today even at higher prices.

Daily fantasy baseball picks

Splurge: Francisco Liriano, Pirates at Padres. As long as Liriano ($9,500 on FD; $9,800 on DK) is throwing strikes (no given), this should be an easy victory with plenty of Ks for the lefthander. Love that Liriano will be backed by the Pirates offense vs. Padres starter Colin Rea.

Sell: Jaime Garcia & Vincent Velasquez. We obviously like both Garcia ($9,100 on FD; $9,200 on DK) and Velasquez ($9,000 on FD; $9,600 on DK) overall today. However, from a value perspective in DFS, both are hard sells at $9K+ because 1. they're pretty expensive now, and 2. they'll be highly owned coming off dominant performances. Don't follow the crowd.

Save: Marcus Stroman, Blue Jays at Orioles. Not only does Stroman ($8,100 on FD; $7,700 on DK) look like a discount today, he should also be under-owned because of the scary matchup at Baltimore. I know the Ks haven't be there for Stroman yet, but the potential is there and the O's are prone to whiffs.
