Week 13 PPR Rankings: WR image

How many times have you heard fantasy analysts talk about "wide receivers with more value in PPR leagues"? It's said all the time, and it seems once a wideout gets that reputation, he can't shake it (and vice/versa for "big-play guys" with less value). Well, what happens if said player isn't actually producing according to their rep? We had to face that question when putting together our Week 13 fantasy WR PPR rankings, and along the way we spotted some more potential waiver wire sleepers who are basically doing what the "more-value-in-a-PPR-league" receivers are supposed to be doing.

First up is Jarvis Landry, who has only five catches on 10 targets for 52 yards in his past two games -- both highly favorable matchups. Next is Golden Tate, who's better than Landry (nine catches, 16 targets, 78 yards over the past two games) but still clearly disappointing. Next we have Larry Fitzgerald, who's scored in four of five games but only has two catches apiece (six total targets) in his past two contests. Further down, we have Cole Beasley (six catches, nine targets, 56 yards in his past two games) and Dede Westbrook (five catches, eight targets, 63 yards and a TD).

Week 13 Standard Rankings:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker

With someone like Tate, the targets are there and we know he has all kinds of upside, so he remains at least a WR3 (plus we'll give him the benefit of the doubt for moving to a new offense). Landry is tougher to figure, but considering he started the season with double-digit targets in seven of the first eight games, we'll leave him on the WR3 bubble (sure would be nice to see some production, though). Fitzgerald has a great matchup and is producing -- and had 38 targets in the four games prior to the last two -- so it's tough to move him too far down. The other types are no better than Taylor Gabriel (14 catches, 17 targets, 101 yards the past two games), Bruce Ellington (12 catches, 16 targets, 80 yards the past two games) and Trey Quinn (nine catches, 10 targets, 75 yards, TD) the past two games), all of whom could easily give Tate or Landry a run for their money in favorable matchups this week.

The bottom line is you should always check the numbers before blindly putting your "better-in-PPR-league" receivers into your lineup. Targets are tough to predict, so you don't want to abandon proven veterans, but up-and-coming role players getting more opportunities because of injuries can be invaluable this time of year. Marcell Ateman (10 targets last week) and Jermaine Kearse (12) are also players to watch in games in which their teams could be throwing a lot against suspect pass defenses.
