Week 1 Fantasy Rankings: Kickers

Week 1 Fantasy Rankings: Kickers image

Do we really care that much about kickers? No. Do we have to in fantasy football? Unfortunately, that’s a yes. They are just as big a part of our Week 1 fantasy rankings as any other position, and it's worthwhile to at least glance at matchups so you can feel a little better about your start 'em/sit 'em decision.

Of course, kicker performance is difficult to predict. Week in and week out, they are the least consistent players league wide. Some weeks, they get a lot of opportunities. Other weeks, they get almost no chances to prove themselves and do less than nothing. But still, that doesn’t mean we’re not going to try to rank them.

To start the season, most of the kickers near the top are all going to be part of high-flying offense, have strong legs, or are lucky enough to fit both categories. It will be tough to predict which guys are going to start the season strong, but rest assured you will be able to find at least a semi-consistent kicker shortly into the season. This will be especially true with some of the top options, namely Justin Tucker and Wil Lutz, getting favorable matchups against weaker defensive units.

Week 1 Rankings:
Quarterback | Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST

Note: We'll be updating our rankings throughout the week if weather or injuries look like they will be major factors. And if you're looking for more fantasy advice, check out the SN Fantasy podcast and find out how your team will lose in Week 1 of the season.
