Matty Healy's mom, Denise Welch, is sharing how she really feels now that her son and Taylor Swift are no longer an item.
Welch made a guest appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday, July 24, where she didn't hold back about her son's short romance with the 14-time Grammy winner when she was quizzed about the singer's Tortured Poets Department.
“Obviously, on pain of death, can I talk about that episode, but being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost,” Welch said, which evoked some gasps from the audience.
However, she quickly said that she did not mean any harm by her answer.
“Not that I have anything against her at all!' Welch quickly responded. "It was just — it was tricky.”
On Swift's Grammy-nominated album, the songs "Guilty as Sin?" "Fresh Out the Slammer," "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)" and "loml" are suggested to be about her son.
After Swift's breakup with Joe Alwyn in April 2023, whom she dated for six years, the 1975 frontman and "Cruel Summer" singer decided to start dating. However, the romance was short-lived, and they were never exclusive, according to a source, as reported by PEOPLE.
"They were never boyfriend-girlfriend or exclusive and were always just having fun," the source told the outlet. "There is no drama, and who knows what could happen again. It was a good time and ran its course."
Shortly after they broke up, a rumor began to swirl that they got back together but it was quickly shut down.
"They are absolutely not together and aren't even in contact anymore," a source told PEOPLE. "She is enjoying being single and has been spending time in the studio and hanging out with friends in New York City. This is all B.S."
The singer went public with her current relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce in September 2023.
