Padel - a racket sport that includes elements of tennis and squash, brought it's growing presence to the Hamptons north of New York this past weekend, with a three day invitational that brought celebrities, competition, and fans.
The tournament started Thursday, August 14, with former U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens making an appearance. She participated in an exhibition match and also joined the player draft. From there, 48 players from 24 teams competed for a cash prize. The matches were held at several Hamptons estates, with a property owned by Wayne Boich acting as the main venue.
Among those in attendance were New York City mayor Eric Adams, hospitality figures Dave and Isabella Grutman, nightlife leaders Noah and Melissa Tepperberg, and Zero Bond founder Scott Sartiano. Music executive Steve Stoute, Equinox chairman Harvey Spevak, and SiriusXM president Scott Greenstein were also spotted courtside.
The big entertainment moment came when singer Robin Thicke of “Blurred Lines” fame performed a surprise concert during the final day.

Padel’s growth was also really made apparent in a new sports gaming element that debuted for the first time. Reserve, the brand behind the event, partnered with DraftKings to launch a Pro-Am Pick’Em. This let fans and guests make predictions about the matches and then track the results as they occured. This was reportedly the first time fantasy-style play has been tied directly to padel matches.
