The adidas Kobe 2 is officially back...albeit in a slightly different way.
No, this isn't a joke. Hoops and sneakers fans remember the criticism surrounding these shoes in the early 2000s when they were first released. This sneaker was yet another point of contention between Bryant and adidas, which ultimately ended with the two parting ways (and Bryant heading to Nike). Fast forward two decades and some change later, the adidas Kobe 2 is back in the form of a new-and-improved adidas Crazy 2.0.
Similar to other models in the adidas x Kobe lineup that have been remixed and remastered, so to speak, the adidas Kobe 2 has now been rebranded under the Crazy moniker, and doesn't feature any direct nods or references to Bryant. The design and color schematics, however, are pretty easily identifiable, with a futuristic silver colorway at the forefront.

And just like the early 2000s, fans are divided as to whether or not they like the silhouette. "Da Moon Boots are back baby," wrote one Reddit commenter. "Yeah, there was zero breathability and little flexibility. IIRC Kobe started the 2001-02 season wearing the 2’s but by the playoffs switched back to the 1’s. Crazy he even played in them at all. Not a good basketball shoe, but at the time. I thought they were cool as hell," added somebody on the neutral side.
Meanwhile, another fan wrote: "The WORST of all the Kobe shoes."
Ahh...can't win them all, I guess. As for the adidas Crazy 2.0, those shoes hit retailers today at a retail price of $160. You can shop them now via the official adidas website.
